Abstract
⺠Iron (hydr) oxides in solutions bind to the uncharged 2D template made of carboxyl groups on aqueous surfaces. ⺠This model system is relevant to Mms6, the protein that promotes magnetite growth in magnetotactic bacteria. ⺠Development of surface-sensitive X-ray reflectivity and spectroscopy techniques for growth of inorganic materials. ⺠Complexes significantly increase in the presence of Tris-KCl in solutions, commonly used to preserve Mms6.
