Abstract
► High temperature electrophoresis data are summarized for a variety of metal oxides. ► Surface protonation enthalpies were extracted via two alternative models. ► Two groups of oxides are identified based on their protonation enthalpy behavior. ► Relative permittivity, Me-OH bond length are found to affect protonation enthalpy.
