Abstract
⺠Negatively charged nanoparticles enhance DNA compaction by cationic surfactants. ⺠Enhancement is optimal for large nanoparticles and small surfactant chain length. ⺠Preaggregation of surfactants on nanoparticles promotes cooperative binding to DNA.
