Abstract
⺠A simple novel method to locally adsorb gold nanoparticles is presented. ⺠Water treatment of mercaptosilane monolayers leads to 'deactivation' of thiol groups. ⺠A remarkably high degree of selectivity in deposited nanoparticles is demonstrated.
