Abstract
⺠Emulsions can spontaneously form layers at a silicon surface. ⺠The more hydrophilic the surfactant used, the more the number of layers. ⺠The layers resemble sections of lamellar bulk phases. ⺠This surface behaviour follows the trends in bulk emulsion phases.
