Abstract
⺠Silica coated layers with different morphologies are prepared by electrospraying. ⺠Precursor solutions of low viscosity deposit particulated silica layers, exhibiting superhydrophobicity. ⺠In contrast, fibrous silica layers that show superhydrophilicity are attained with viscous precursor solutions. ⺠The dramatic change in the water contact angle without any chemical treatment is useful in many applications.
