Abstract
⺠This is a revisit of theoretical estimation of size-distributions of emulsions by statistical mechanics. ⺠The size distribution in equilibrium was localized both to the smallest and the largest droplets. ⺠The largest ones have a main contribution in the volume fraction. ⺠They are formed kinetically by competition of diffusion with gravitational convection. ⺠The concept is useful for emulsion polymerization, size-control of dispersed nanoparticles and ion transfer at oil|water interfaces.
