Abstract
▸ Single screw extrusion of high density polyethylene was studied. ▸ Energy consumption was independent of set temperature and extruder screw geometry. ▸ Temperature homogeneity was heavily dependent upon extruder screw geometry. ▸ A barrier flighted screw with a mixer provided lowest temperature fluctuation.
