Abstract
► The effect of isolator height (w.r.t. CG) on residual vibrations is modeled. ► Model reveals that altering isolator height can lead to curve veering/mode localization. ► Analyses suggest the reconsideration of the long-standing rule to decouple modes. ► Guidelines for properly locating vibration isolators for residual vibration reduction are provided. ► Experiments show a 5-fold reduction in residual vibrations over the currently recommended practice.
