► We investigated how individual differences distinctively predict intergroup biases. ► Need for Structure predicted stereotyping; Authoritarianism and intergroup contact predicted prejudice. ► Stereotyping and prejudice had divergent dynamics with out-groups' entitativity. ► Integrating individual differences and group perception benefits the study of bias.
