Abstract
⺠The Big Five Model was used to assess the role of traits in orienting voting choice. ⺠Five European countries (Italy, Spain, Germany, Greece, and Poland) were considered. ⺠Openness predicted a preference for left-wing parties. ⺠Conscientiousness predicted a preference for right-wing parties. ⺠The effect of the other traits was linked to the political discourses of each country.
