Abstract
⺠We investigated personality correlates of helping behavior (pointing out a temporary flaw). ⺠Higher embarrassability predicted slower helping in a laboratory study. ⺠Higher embarrassability was associated with reduced likelihood of intervention in real-world helping situations. ⺠Personality factors (avoidance motivations) can predict who will be inhibited from helping.
