Abstract
The Aggression Questionnaire (AQ; Buss & Perrry, 1992) is a widely used self-report measure of trait aggression. A number of researchers have investigated the reliability and validity of this instrument, and the findings generally point in the direction of good psychometric properties with the qualification that the elimination of a few items would improve the instrument. In the present study we tested a refined model proposed by Bryant and Smith (2001) which consists of a subset of the original AQ items. We also investigated the relations between the AQ and human values, the Big Five personality dimensions, alcohol outcome expectancies, alcohol consumption patterns, and responses to hypothetical vignettes depicting provoking situations. We found support for the construct validity of the original AQ and the refined model.
