Abstract
⺠Preschoolers' trust in the testimony of minimal ingroup vs. outgroup members was assessed. ⺠Children showed selective trust in the reliable speaker when that speaker was an ingroup member. ⺠Children failed to show selective trust in the reliable speaker when he/she was an outgroup member. ⺠Conflict between minimal group status and reliability disrupts children's use of the latter.
