Abstract
► Preschoolers' trust in the testimony of minimal ingroup vs. outgroup members was assessed. ► Children showed selective trust in the reliable speaker when that speaker was an ingroup member. ► Children failed to show selective trust in the reliable speaker when he/she was an outgroup member. ► Conflict between minimal group status and reliability disrupts children's use of the latter.
