Abstract
⺠We apply a novel methodology toward uncovering personality response intent. ⺠The predominant orientation when selecting the middle category is “it depends”. ⺠Middle category intent has stronger associations with items than respondents. ⺠Traditional scoring with ambiguous items may result in personality scale attenuation.
