Abstract
⺠A car-following model with drivers' reaction time varies with traffic speed and density. ⺠Numerical analysis of the stability properties of the model under mild to severe disturbances. ⺠The model has local stability under all conditions. ⺠The model is asymptotically unstable when speeds are below a critical speed. ⺠The model requires further calibration for its close-following behaviour.
