Abstract
⺠We argue that the concept of academic entrepreneurship should be widened. ⺠We present a new, wider, definition of academic entrepreneurship. ⺠Determinants of entrepreneurship vary by type of entrepreneurial activity. ⺠Older, more senior, male academics are more likely to use informal channels. ⺠Institutional support is insufficient for some types of activities.
