Abstract
►The paper analyses the possible effects of TPA in district heating networks. ► Four possible scenarios for increased competition are identified and scrutinized. ► A conclusion is that regulated TPA have only small positive effects on competition. ► District heating operations are highly interdependent and separation can be costly.
