Abstract
►We investigate the co-movement of food prices and the macroeconomic index. ►The crude oil price has indirect effect on the world GDP via its impacts on food production index. ►The food production index is the source of causation for CPI and GDP is affected by CPI. ►The results confirm an indirect effect among oil price, food price principal component.
