Abstract
⺠Article provides an updated evaluation on the changes in CO2 emissions from energy consumption in Brazil, including the recently released data for 2009. ⺠Results demonstrate that progress in energy mix diversification and associated factors are the most important factors contributing to emission mitigation in Brazil. ⺠Negligence in technology intensive factors, as energy intensity, has offset most efforts on emission mitigation related to energy consumption. ⺠Paper announces a first episode of absolute decoupling between GDP growth and CO2 emission reduction in Brazil registered for 2009.
