Abstract
A novel Co(III) salt of the formula [Co(en)2(N3)2]·ClO4 (1) has been obtained and structurally characterized by the X-ray crystallography method. Spectroscopic (FT-IR, NIR-Vis-UV) studies have been performed for the low-spin [Co(en)2(N3)2]·ClO4 (1), [Co(en)2CO3]·ClO4 (2) and [Co(bpy)2CO3]·NO3·5H2O (3) complexes. Absorption bands have been assigned to the electronic transitions, depending on the symmetry of the chromophores.
