Abstract
The interaction between Ag(I) ions with 3,5-di(tert-butyl)-1,2-benzenediol and sulfur-containing derivatives of sterically hindered diphenols was studied. In most cases Ag(I) ions interact with some of these derivatives to give silver sols. 2-[4,6-di(tert-butyl)-2,3-dihydroxyphenylsulfanyl]acetic acid (L) does not reduce Ag(I), but forms a complex therewith: The complex was characterized by elemental analysis and various physico-chemical techniques.
