Abstract
Isotropic and anisotropic Raman spectra of molten mixtures of PbCl2-ACl (A = K, Cs) have been measured up to 680 °C. The relative intensities at different temperatures and compositions indicate the formation of polynuclear Pb coordination polyhedra of the type PbnCl3nn- (n ⩽ 4). Dipole-induced-dipole interactions appear to be important for these melts.
