Abstract
⺠Novel blue emissive Ni(II)-salphen complexes have been synthesized. ⺠Ligands are non-mesogenic and non-emissive. ⺠Complexes exhibited rectangular columnar mesomorphism. ⺠A distorted square planar structure for the nickel(II) complexes have been proposed.
