Abstract
Tetrakis(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)porphyrin (TDMPPH2), tetrakis(benzo-9-crown-3)porphyrin (TC3PH2), tetrakis(benzo-12-crown-4)porphyrin (TC4PH2), and their metallated derivatives have been synthesized and characterized by spectroscopic methods. The interactions of cations with these compounds were studied and have shown that Al3+ and Mg2+ cations interact with both the porphyrin macrocycles and the crown ether rings.
