Abstract
The crystal packing through H-bonds affords infinite two-dimensional (2D) sheets in isomorphous nickel(II)- and zinc(II)-2,2â²-dipyridylamine-azido complexes. The pyridyl planes of adjacent sheets are engaged in face-to-face Ï-Ï and C-Hâ¯Ï interactions leading to a 3D supramolecular continuum. Both the complexes exhibit high-energy intraligand 1(Ï-Ï*) fluorescence and intraligand 3(Ï-Ï*) phosphorescence in glassy solutions (DMF at 77 K).
