Abstract
The photophysical properties of the polypyridyl ruthenium(II) complexes bridged to the acridine chromophore by an amide, one and two prolines were investigated. The inductive effect of the carbonyl group from the bridges cause a decrease in the energy level of the MLCT excited state. The folded structure of the cis-[Ru(bpy)2mbpy-(Pro)2acrd]3+ complex confer the fastest rate of T-T energy transfer.
