► MgO increases the temperature of peak crystallization. ► MgO enlarges the sintering windows (working range). ► Thermal expansion coefficient of the glasses decreases with MgO content. ► MgO retards glass bioactivity but does not inhibit it. ► MgO glass coatings biocompatible to fibroblasts but not to osteoblasts.
