Abstract
► Stirring alters the geometry of the striae by converting large striae in a glass melt to smaller ones. ► Stirring in itself does not improve the homogenisation rate of glass melts. ► Striae are eliminated from the melt if the size of a stria is below half the diffusion length in the melt. ► By creating small stria, stirring improves the stria elimination rate in glass melts.
