Abstract
⺠FTIR and UV-VIS optical absorption spectra of MoO3-doped lead borate glasses containing 60-80 wt.% PbO have been studied. ⺠Optical absorption spectra of the studied glasses show marked resistance to successive gamma irradiation up to 5 Mrad. ⺠This shielding behavior can be related to the present high content of the high atomic mass Pb2 + ions. ⺠Changes in the atomic structure before and after gamma irradiation are described and explained.
