Abstract
⺠Rate constant of nitrogen dissolution for CaO-SiO2 showed parabolic curve with a maximum. ⺠Nitrogen rate decreases due to excess O2- blocking the sites for adsorption. ⺠Rate constant in CaO-Al2O3 higher than CaO-SiO2 due to the lower binding energy. ⺠Rate constant faster with both silicates and aluminates present. ⺠Excess CaO inhibits nitrogen adsorption and dissolution by surface blockage.
