Abstract
⺠Optical glass component quality is influenced by the surface and subsurface defects. ⺠The damaged area is characterized by roughness and crack layers. ⺠We determine the lapping parameters effect on the roughness and the damaged layer. ⺠Important damage of the glass surface is observed since the first seconds of lapping. ⺠Increasing of the lapping time increases the damages to reach the removal of material.
