Abstract
⺠During glass-batch melting, solid silica exhibits dissolution retardation. ⺠During the silica lifetime, the rate of dissolution can decrease hundred times. ⺠This inhibition is attributed to the irregular spatial distribution of particles. ⺠A retardation factor was introduced to quantify the retardation extent. ⺠The retardation factor compares the measured rate with an “ideal” case.
