Abstract
The reactions of H, OH and eaqâ with 2-, 3- and 4-amino-phenols (APs) have been studied at various pH using pulse radiolysis technique. eaqâ reacts with these APs with rate constants in the range 107-108Â dm3Â molâ1Â sâ1 to give adducts which are reducing in nature. H atoms add to the benzene ring giving hydrocyclohexadienyl type of radicals. OH radicals and other one-electron oxidants react with 2-amino-phenol to give anilino type of radicals while their reactions with 3- and 4-APs give amino-phenoxyl radicals.
