Abstract
⺠Overexpression of gankyrin in hepatocytes induces hemangiosarcomas in transgenic mice. ⺠The oncoprotein gankyrin binds to factor inhibiting hypoxia-inducible factor-1 (FIH-1). ⺠Gankyrin increases activity of hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF)-1 by sequestering FIH-1. ⺠Binding of gankyrin to FIH-1 is dependent on the O2 concentration.
