Abstract
⺠A rice de novo DNA methyltransferase OsDRM2 was cloned. ⺠In vitro methylation activity of OsDRM2 was characterized with Escherichia coli. ⺠Assays of OsDRM2 in vivo methylation were done with Saccharomyces cerevisiae. ⺠OsDRM2 methylation activity is not preferential to any type of cytosine context. ⺠The activity of OsDRM2 is independent of RdDM pathway.
