Abstract
⺠The CENP-E (kinesin-7) family contains two functionally distinct subgroups. ⺠Short CENP-E variants are present in amoebozoa, fungi, mosses and higher plants. ⺠Dictyostelium Kif11 is a short CENP-E motor moving towards microtubule plus ends. ⺠Kif11 is a slow motor with an average velocity of 38 nm/s.
