Dysregulated balance of retinoid-related orphan receptor γt-dependent innate lymphoid cells is involved in the pathogenesis of chronic DSS-induced colitis

► RORγt-dependent ILC22 cells are localized in Thy-1+SCA-1high in the intestine in normal and colitic mice. ► RORγt−/− × Rag-2−/− mice developed severer DSS-induced colitis in mice. ► Colitic RORγt−/− × Rag-2−/− mice reveal lower expression of REG3β and REG3γ in the colon.
