Abstract
► Acetyl-keto-β-boswellic acid (AKBA) induces lipolysis in both mouse and human mature adipocytes. ► AKBA increases lipolytic enzymes and down-regulates lipid droplet regulator perilipin. ► Lipolysis induced by AKBA was accompanied by loss of phenotypic markers of mature adipocytes. ► AKBA represses expression of PPAR-γ and C/EBP-α in mature adipocytes.
