Abstract
⺠Actin-binding domains of vinculin and metavinculin differ in thermal stability. ⺠Cardiomyopathy-related mutation increases metavinculin residency in cell adhesions. ⺠Presence of metavinculin in costameres is strictly muscle fiber-type dependent. ⺠Metavinculin decorates costameres of fast glycolytic but not slow oxidative fibers. ⺠Metavinculin expression in skeletal muscle correlates with mechanical shear stress.
