Abstract
⺠We investigated the mechanism for peroxidation of linoleate by a TiO2/HOCl system. ⺠Peroxidation occurred via the well-established free radical mechanism. ⺠Electrophilic oxidation by O2(1Îg) (from 18:1 monochlorohydrins) also occurred. ⺠These two reactions combined resulted in significant peroxidation.
