⺠Toxigenic Bacillus anthracis infection induces protein S-nitrosylation in macrophages. ⺠B. anthracis-derived nitric oxide targets bioenergetic machinery of macrophages. ⺠Energy depletion by bacteria-derived NO contributes to macrophage death.
