► Expression and activity of GlyT1 and GlyT2 changes over development. ► GlyT1 is the transporter responsible for the majority of neonatal glycine uptake. ► Expression and activity of GlyT2 increases significantly postnatally. ► Both transporters contribute about equally to glycine uptake in adulthood.
