Abstract
⺠ANG-(1-7) in vitro ameliorates ANG II-induced insulin resistance in rat skeletal muscle. ⺠This beneficial effect of ANG-(1-7) is associated with enhanced Akt Ser473 phosphorylation. ⺠The beneficial effects of ANG-(1-7) can be prevented by the Mas receptor antagonist A779. ⺠The results support targeting the renin-angiotensin system in insulin-resistant muscle.
