Effective expression of human proteins on bacterial magnetic particles in an anchor gene deletion mutant of Magnetospirillum magneticum AMB-1

► We constructed an anchor gene deletion mutant of magnetotactic bacteria. ► This is the first report about the mutant for effective protein display onto BacMPs. ► Cell growth and BacMP formation were unaffected by the gene deletion. ► Human protein displays onto BacMPs were significantly improved in this mutant.
