Abstract
► Adult growth hormone deficiency has a high prevalence of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). ► However, the specific contribution of GH or IGF-I remains to be elucidated. ► Not only GH but also IGF-I prevented the development of NASH in a GH-deficient rat model. ► These results revealed a presence of GH-independent IGF-I action in the liver.
