Abstract
⺠Escherichia coli mutants with decreased tryptophan synthesis showed higher biofilm formation. ⺠E. coli mutants with increased tryptophan degradation showed higher biofilm formation. ⺠E. coli biofilm formation was prevented by l-tryptophan addition. ⺠E. coli matured biofilm was degraded by l-tryptophan addition.
