Abstract
► Endothelial dysfunction is an early indicator of vascular damage. ► Effects of diabetic glucolipotoxicity were studied in human coronary endothelial cells. ► Genes involved in angiogenesis, inflammation and thrombogenesis were changed. ► These aberrations were normalized by GLP-1 receptor agonist exendin-4. ► Exendin-4 may confer cardiovascular benefit beyond improved glycemic control.
