Abstract
⺠wt Human histone H1.4 and hH1.4 devoid of N-terminal domain, ÎN-hH1.4, were compared. ⺠Both histones bind to chromatin, however, ÎN-hH1.4 displays lower binding affinity. ⺠Interaction of ÎN-hH1.4 with chromatin includes a significant unspecific component. ⺠N-terminal domain is a determinant of specificity of histone H1 binding to chromatin.
