Abstract
⺠Proximal tandem GC-boxes and E-box are essential for GATA-4 gene expression. ⺠Upstream GATA-motif functions as enhancer when stably introduced into chromosome. ⺠GATA-6 but not GATA-4 or GATA-5 binds to this GATA-motif on GATA-4 gene activation. ⺠GATA-6 may activate GATA-4 gene through upstream conserved GATA-motif.
